Parents Information Talks on Supporting Children and Teenagers

The HSE Child and Adolescent Primary Care Psychology Service in Mayo has launched a new initiative aimed at parents and caregivers of children and teenagers. The series of online information talks was created by the psychology service (including Psychologists and Assistant Psychologists).

Each information talk offers practical tips and strategies to parents and caregivers on supporting their children and teenagers.

The series includes talks on:-

  • how to support a child with anxiety
  • the importance of attachment in children and teenagers
  • the importance of sleep for children and teens
  • building resilience in children
  • supporting your child in regulating their emotions and returning to a good routine after lockdown.

Each talk is between 40-60 minutes and each video has links to evidence-based resources on the topics.

Choosing A Strong Password

Chains of words, make passwords easy to remember and harder to crack.

To create a password that meets our strength requirements, it’s recommended to use a mix of at least three random words along with a number (not a birthday or 123 etc., just random) and one or more symbols and capitals, but don't capitalize the first letters of the words, e.g.:

  • mower-speaK5shadow
  • table?taPe748goNe.

This password style might not be very common, and it will be much more difficult for computers/bots to crack. It also allows for your passwords to be memorized more easily. Though a password vault may help with that.
